easyJet has reached a major milestone at Birmingham Airport, announcing that it has carried more than 10 million passengers to and from the UK airport since launching operations there in 2007.

To celebrate the achievement, the airline surprised two passengers, Cathy Stacey and Fouad Wardi, who were departing for Marrakesh, with complimentary return flights to any destination across easyJet's network.

The low-cost carrier began flying from Birmingham Airport nearly two decades ago with services to Geneva. Since then, its presence in the Midlands has expanded significantly, particularly following the opening of its Birmingham base in 2024.

Over the past two years, easyJet has more than tripled the number of destinations it serves from Birmingham, growing its network to 45 routes across Europe and North Africa. The airline is also operating its largest-ever summer schedule from the airport in 2026.

As part of that expansion, easyJet recently added a sixth aircraft to its Birmingham base, allowing it to increase capacity and introduce additional destinations. Among the latest additions is a new winter route to Copenhagen, with fares starting from £31.99.

The airline's tour operator, easyJet holidays, has also expanded rapidly since launching package holidays from Birmingham in March 2024. Customers can now choose from thousands of holiday packages to destinations across Europe and North Africa.

Kevin Doyle, easyJet's UK Country Manager, described the 10 million passenger milestone as a reflection of the airline's continued investment in the region.

"We have more than tripled the size of our network at Birmingham in the past two years and doubled the number of aircraft we base at the airport, supporting jobs and connectivity for the region," Doyle said.

Matt Hazelwood, Chief Commercial Officer at Birmingham Airport, said easyJet has become one of the airport's most important airline partners since launching services nearly 20 years ago.

The milestone highlights easyJet's growing role in the Midlands travel market as demand for affordable flights and package holidays continues to rise. With its biggest-ever summer operation underway and further expansion planned, the carrier appears set to strengthen its position at Birmingham Airport in the years ahead.
