The Luxury Collection, West Cairo. Photo: Marriot Marriott International is significantly expanding its presence in Egypt after signing a landmark agreement with Misr Italia Properties and People & Places to develop nine new hotels, resorts, and branded residential projects across the country.
The multi-property deal will add more than 1,500 hotel rooms and residences across some of Egypt's most sought-after destinations, including Ras El Hekma on the Mediterranean coast, Ain Sokhna on the Red Sea, and the Cairo metropolitan area.

"Egypt remains a strategic growth market for Marriott underpinned by strong tourism fundamentals, expanding infrastructure and increasing demand for premium hospitality and branded residential experiences," said Shady Hassan, Vice President of Development for North Africa at Marriott International.
Among the planned developments is a Ritz-Carlton hotel with 170 guestrooms at The Med Ras El Hekma, accompanied by 268 Ritz-Carlton branded residences. Nearby, an Autograph Collection property is expected to feature 180 rooms and 250 branded residences within the Solare Ras El Hekma development.
In Greater Cairo, Marriott plans to open a 180-room Luxury Collection hotel with 180 residences at The Hills of One in Sphinx City, as well as a 100-room Autograph Collection hotel at Garden 8 in East Cairo.
Additional expansion is planned in Ain Sokhna, where an 80-room Autograph Collection hotel and 172 branded residences are expected to become part of the Kai Sokhna Red Sea development.
According to Misr Italia Properties, the company's broader hospitality strategy includes investments exceeding EGP 56.7 billion (approximately US$1.1 billion). The planned projects are expected to create around 6,000 direct and indirect jobs and welcome an estimated 373,000 tourists annually.

The latest announcement builds on Marriott's existing relationship with Misr Italia, following agreements signed in 2022 for Marriott Executive Apartments and Westin Residences in Egypt's New Administrative Capital.
Marriott's expansion comes as Egypt continues to strengthen its position as one of the Middle East and North Africa's fastest-growing tourism markets, supported by major infrastructure investments and increasing international visitor numbers.
Misr Italia Properties and People & Places have set an ambitious target of building a portfolio of approximately 50 hospitality assets by 2037, reinforcing Egypt's growing appeal as both a tourism destination and an investment hub.
