Hanoi. Photo: Shutterstock LOT Polish Airlines continues to expand its international operations with the launch of a new direct route between Warsaw and Hanoi, the capital of Vietnam. The new route will start operating on March 31, 2027, year-round, with three flights per week, using Boeing 787 Dreamliner aircraft.
Hanoi will become LOT's fifth destination in Asia, alongside Tokyo, Seoul, New Delhi and Bangkok, giving passengers from Central and Eastern Europe easier access to one of the continent's most sought-after and intriguing destinations.
According to Robert Ludera, LOT's board member and chief commercial officer, Vietnam is one of the fastest-growing markets in Asia, both in terms of trade and tourism. The opening of the Hanoi route reflects the airline's ambition to keep expanding its presence in Asia while establishing Warsaw as a key gateway connecting Central and Eastern Europe with the world's most promising destinations, Ludera explained.
One of Asia's oldest cities with a history spanning over a thousand years, Hanoi combines ancient temples, picturesque lakes, French colonial boulevards and a bustling Old Quarter. The city is also known as one of the continent's culinary capitals, with iconic dishes like Pho, Banh Mi and the famous egg coffee attracting foodies from around the world.
Beyond being a destination in its own right, Hanoi is an ideal starting point for trips throughout northern Vietnam. From there, you can easily reach Ha Long Bay, a UNESCO World Heritage Site famous for its thousands of limestone islands jutting out of the sea, Ninh Binh, known as "Ha Long on land," and Sapa, the region of mountains and green terraces where traditional ethnic communities live.
