Photo: Shutterstock Flights at Minneapolis–Saint Paul International Airport (MSP) are gradually returning to normal after a regional Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) equipment outage triggered a temporary ground stop and disrupted air traffic.
"The FAA briefly paused flights into and out of Minneapolis Air Route Traffic Control Center's airspace due to telecommunication issues," said the FAA.
According to MSP Airport, the outage initially led to a ground stop for departures, while only limited arrivals were permitted as the FAA worked to resolve the issue.
Airport officials have since confirmed that airlines are beginning to resume some operations at MSP and other affected airports. "Services have been fully restored, and flights are returning to normal," the FAA also confirmed. However, travelers should continue to expect delays and other flight disruptions throughout the evening as airlines work to recover their schedules.
Passengers are advised to check directly with their airline for the latest flight status, as recovery times may vary depending on the carrier and destination.
