Lufthansa Group is preparing to launch a new era of inflight connectivity, with the first aircraft equipped with its new Starlink-powered Wi-Fi scheduled to take off on August 19.
A Lufthansa Airbus A320neo will become the first aircraft in the group to offer the new service, which is designed to provide high-speed internet that can support video streaming, cloud-based work and other demanding online applications while passengers are in the air.

High-Speed Internet Above the Clouds
The new system uses Starlink's low-Earth-orbit satellite technology to provide faster connectivity than traditional inflight internet services.
According to Lufthansa Group, passengers could in many cases experience connection speeds exceeding those available in their homes or offices.

Dieter Vranckx, Chief Commercial Officer of Lufthansa Group, said high-speed connectivity is now an integral part of the airline's onboard product.
He described the rollout as part of the group's broader investment in aircraft, products and services, with the aim of making connectivity a standard part of the passenger experience.

The technology will eventually be introduced across Lufthansa Group's airline portfolio.
In addition to Lufthansa, airlines preparing for the rollout include SWISS, Austrian Airlines, Brussels Airlines, ITA Airways, Edelweiss, Discover Airlines, Air Dolomiti, Lufthansa City Airlines and Eurowings.
The group said the new service will be available free of charge to Miles & More customers and Travel ID users, regardless of travel class.
Passengers will still have to agree to the service's terms of use. These include requirements to use headphones when playing audio or video, while voice and video calls will not be permitted. Live streaming from the aircraft will also be prohibited.
The rules were developed following passenger surveys and are intended to balance improved connectivity with the onboard experience of other travelers.
The new Lufthansa Group Wi-Fi is sponsored by Mastercard, which also partnered with the airline group on its previous FlyNet service.
With the first aircraft entering service on August 19 and the broader rollout continuing toward 2029, Lufthansa Group is positioning high-speed internet as a standard feature of its future onboard experience.
