The announcement ends weeks of uncertainty over whether the contest would be held in Sofia or another Bulgarian city. Burgas, which competed alongside Sofia, Varna and Plovdiv, ultimately secured the honor.
The Eurovision week will feature three televised shows. The first semi-final is scheduled for Tuesday, May 11, 2027 , followed by the second semi-final on Thursday, May 13 , before the Grand Final on Saturday, May 15 .
Fans will also have the opportunity to attend six preview shows scheduled between May 10 and May 15. Ticket sale details will be announced later, but fans who want to participate in the official ticket sale will need to register with Eurofan, Eurovision's free official fan club.
Burgas was chosen following a competitive host city selection process involving four Bulgarian cities: Burgas, Sofia, Varna and Plovdiv.
Burgas and Sofia eventually advanced to the final stage before Burgas was selected as the host.
The evaluation considered several factors, including the proposed venue, technical and production capabilities, accommodation, transport infrastructure and international connectivity. Organizers also assessed each city's ability to accommodate the thousands of artists, delegations, journalists, production workers and fans expected to travel to Bulgaria.
Burgas ultimately stood out with its combination of venue capabilities, accommodation capacity, transport links and municipal support.
The city also presented a broader vision for turning the entire destination into part of the Eurovision experience.

The Eurovision Village, EuroClub, Opening Ceremony and other public events will form part of a wider program across the city. Organizers say more details will be revealed in the coming months.

That win brought the competition to Bulgaria for the first time and set the stage for what organizers hope will be a landmark cultural and tourism event.
Martin Green CBE, Director of the Eurovision Song Contest, said Burgas offers a distinctive setting and has the infrastructure and ambition needed to welcome the Eurovision community.
BNT Director General Milena Milotinova also described the host city selection as the beginning of an intensive preparation period, saying Bulgaria aims to showcase its culture, hospitality and professionalism to an international audience.
Hosting Eurovision could deliver significant economic benefits for Burgas, with thousands of international visitors expected during the contest.
Recent host cities have demonstrated the potential impact. Liverpool reported a €66 million economic boost in 2023, while Malmö recorded €40 million in 2024. Basel reported €58 million in 2025, with a much larger national economic impact for Switzerland.
Vienna, which hosted the 2026 contest, has also reported strong tourism results, including an estimated €57 million economic boost .
Burgas will now prepare for a similar opportunity as the city gets ready to welcome artists, fans, journalists and Eurovision delegations from around the world.
With the Black Sea as its backdrop and Arena Burgas as the main venue, Eurovision 2027 is set to put Burgas and Bulgaria firmly in the international spotlight .
