An American Airlines Boeing 737-800 landed safely at Chicago O’Hare International Airport on Monday after the crew reported that two tires had blown following the landing. The incident comes just days after another American Airlines flight bound for Charlotte returned to Myrtle Beach after a bird strike during takeoff.
American Airlines Flight 386 arrived at O’Hare at around 2 p.m. local time on August 17, according to the Federal Aviation Administration.
The aircraft was operating from New York’s LaGuardia Airport to Chicago when the incident occurred. Despite the blown tires, the aircraft landed safely.
Passengers were subsequently deplaned using stairs and transported by bus to the terminal.
The FAA said it will investigate the incident. The agency did not provide further details about what caused the tires to blow. The FAA advised passengers and others seeking additional information to contact American Airlines.
