Another earthquake was felt in the Granada region of southern Spain on Tuesday morning, August 18, just a few days after a strong quake struck the region. Initial estimates put the quake at magnitude 4.6, with its epicenter in the Aljezundín area, about 8 kilometers southwest of Granada. Spain's National Geographic Institute reported that the quake occurred at a depth of about 5 kilometers.

The earthquake was felt well throughout the province of Granada and other areas in Andalusia, with reports of the tremor being felt even from areas dozens or even more than 100 kilometers away from the epicenter, including areas along the Costa del Sol.

The event comes just four days after another significant earthquake in the region, which struck early Saturday morning. That quake, initially estimated at a magnitude of 5, was later upgraded to a magnitude of 4.8 by the National Geographic Institute, causing property damage and panic among residents.

Minor injuries were also reported this morning. According to reports in Spain, three people were slightly injured, including a minor who was taken to the hospital. At the same time, aftershocks were recorded in the area.

Following the quake, parts of the Alhambra Palace, one of the city's main tourist attractions, including the Nasrid Palaces and the Alcazaba, were evacuated as a precaution for safety checks. Other areas of the complex, including the Portal and Generalife gardens, continued to operate. Public buildings and museums in the district were also temporarily closed.

The latest tremors are being felt by residents of Granada and the surrounding area, with some reporting furniture and objects moving inside homes. Emergency services have received dozens of calls following the quake, while authorities continue to monitor seismic activity in the area.
