Cyprus Airways  continues to expand its destination map from Larnaca International Airport, this time significantly strengthening its flight network to Europe ahead of the winter season.

According to an announcement by Hermes Airports, which operates the airports in Larnaca and Paphos, Cyprus Airways will launch two new routes from Larnaca to two of Europe's main destinations in December: Rome and Munich.

The two new routes are expected to operate with a frequency of two weekly flights to each destination , expanding direct flight options from Cyprus at a time when many airlines are reducing some of their seasonal operations.

At the same time, Cyprus Airways will also strengthen the route from Larnaca to Heraklion in Crete by adding a third weekly flight at the start of the upcoming winter season.

The move fits into Cyprus Airways' strategy to expand its operations from its home base in Larnaca and increase the range of destinations it operates throughout the year, while strengthening Cyprus' connectivity to key European markets.

Hermes Airports welcomed the expansion of operations and noted that the new routes and the addition to Heraklion reflect the cooperation with the local airline and the efforts to expand the island's air connectivity throughout the year.

For Larnaca Airport, this is a particularly important addition. Rome and Munich are two of the main tourist and business cities in Europe, and direct routes to them could serve both the Cypriot public and the tourist traffic entering the island.

The expansion of the network simultaneously strengthens Larnaca's position as a regional aviation hub in the Eastern Mediterranean, a point of significance also for travelers from Israel, who use Cyprus both as a destination in itself and as a convenient transit point for onward travel to Europe.

With the two new routes and the increased frequency to Crete, Cyprus Airways is signaling that for it the winter season is not a period of slowdown, but another opportunity to expand its European presence and deepen its operations from its home port in Larnaca.
