One of the most prominent lifestyle brands in the hotel world has entered the residential market for the first time.
IHG Hotels & Resorts has announced The Residences at Hotel Indigo Mountain View Ras El Hekma in Egypt, the world's first branded residential project under the Hotel Indigo name.
The project will be built in Ras El Hekma, along Egypt's northern coast, as part of a large resort and residential complex by Mountain View.
280 Apartments and a Hotel
As part of the project, 280 branded residential units will be built, ranging from studio apartments to apartments with one, two and three bedrooms.
They will be built alongside Hotel Indigo Mountain View Ras El Hekma, a planned 100-room hotel, creating a complex that combines private residences with services and experiences based on the world of hotels.
The goal is to take the identity associated with Hotel Indigo, a design influenced by the location, community, and local culture, and transfer it for the first time to a residential product.
When the Hotel Becomes a Home
The move reflects one of the most prominent trends in the world of Luxury & Lifestyle today: Branded Residences.
More and more hotel groups are attaching their brand names to residential projects where residents receive not only an apartment, but also a standard of service, facilities, and hospitality experience associated with an international hotel.
IHG clarifies that the Ras El Hekma project is Hotel Indigo's first step into this field, and that the company plans to continue developing its branded residences activity in a focused manner.
The choice of Ras El Hekma is not accidental.
The area, located on Egypt's northern coast, is undergoing significant development with investments in tourism, infrastructure, residential and mixed-use developments. IHG itself defines it as one of the country's most developing and attractive coastal destinations.
The Mountain View project is planned as a sprawling coastal community that will combine hotels, residences, commerce, leisure and shared facilities.
IHG Increases Presence in Egypt
The new project is part of IHG's broader expansion in the Egyptian market.
According to the company's announcement, IHG currently operates 10 hotels in Egypt under four brands, InterContinental, Crowne Plaza, Holiday Inn and Staybridge Suites, and the company has 26 additional hotels in the development pipeline in the country.
Hotel Indigo itself is also on a global expansion spree. As of the end of March 2026, the brand operates 195 hotels with more than 26,000 rooms, with an additional 130 hotels in development. IHG estimates that the brand’s size could double within three to five years.
The project in Egypt now marks a new stage in this development: Hotel Indigo no longer wants to be just a place where you stay for a few nights but also a place where you live.
