"Deadly Violence" Reported at School in Sweden, Police Detain One Person

Swedish police have responded to a report of ongoing deadly violence at a school in Fagersta, with one person taken into custody.

According to an update from the Swedish Police issued on August 21, 2026, at 2:06 pm, authorities received an alarm concerning deadly violence at a school in the town of Fagersta.

Police officers have been deployed to the scene, and authorities said a number of different police resources were involved in the response.

One person has been taken into custody, although police have not yet released further information about the person's identity or their alleged involvement.

The police statement did not provide details about the number of victims or their condition.

Police have established roadblocks around the area and are urging members of the public to stay clear and follow instructions from officers at the scene.

Fagersta is located in Västmanland County, around 150 kilometers northwest of Stockholm.
