Hyatt Hotels Corporation and Portuguese real estate developer Coporgest have announced plans to bring the Park Hyatt brand to Portugal for the first time with a new luxury hotel and branded residences in Comporta.
Park Hyatt Comporta and Park Hyatt Comporta Residences are expected to open in 2029, adding a new high-end hospitality destination to Portugal's Atlantic coast.
Located in the Alentejo region, Comporta is known for its long beaches, protected natural landscapes and relaxed atmosphere. The destination has increasingly attracted international travelers looking for a quieter alternative to Portugal's busier coastal resorts, while remaining within approximately an hour of Lisbon's Humberto Delgado Airport.
The planned Park Hyatt Comporta will feature 58 guest rooms and suites , along with six private two-bedroom villas . The project will also include 22 fully serviced residences, whose owners will have access to the hotel's amenities and services.
Guests are expected to have access to several leisure and wellness facilities, including swimming pools, a wellness area, fitness center, padel court and kids' club. A collection of restaurants will also form part of the resort.
Golf will be another major feature of the property. Park Hyatt Comporta will be located next to the Troia Golf Course, while four additional golf courses will be within approximately a 20-minute drive.
The 18-hole, par-72 Troia Golf Course covers six hectares and was designed by renowned golf architect Robert Trent Jones Sr. Its location near the beach provides views towards the Arrábida Mountains.
A New Luxury Destination in Comporta
Hyatt said the Comporta setting is particularly suited to the Park Hyatt brand because of its combination of nature, beach lifestyle and understated luxury.
"Comporta has a rare combination of relaxed beach living, protected nature and creative spirit," said Tamara Lohan MBE, Global Brand Leader - Luxury at Hyatt . She described the destination as a natural fit for Park Hyatt's personalized approach to luxury hospitality.
Park Hyatt Comporta will join Hyatt's growing collection of luxury properties in prominent European destinations including Paris, London, Milan, Vienna, Zurich, Marrakech and Istanbul.
The brand's properties are designed to reflect their individual surroundings while maintaining a focus on residential-style design, personalized service and experiences connected to local culture.
Sérgio Ferreira, CEO of Coporgest , said the project reflects the companies' shared ambition to create a landmark luxury destination in Comporta.
Park Hyatt Comporta Residences
The residential component of the development will include six villas and 22 apartments integrated into the Park Hyatt Comporta operation.
The residences will be privately owned and fully serviced, allowing homeowners to combine the privacy of a private residence with access to hotel services, facilities and management.
According to Hyatt, the residences will feature the Park Hyatt brand's design approach and personalized service. Owners will also benefit from the property's location within the wider Comporta Beach Resort.
Tina Necrason, Global Head of Branded Residential at Hyatt , said the residences are intended to provide homeowners with a luxury retreat connected to the surrounding coastline while offering access to the services and amenities of the Park Hyatt property.
Beyond the branded Park Hyatt residences, the wider Comporta Beach Resort complex is planned to include another 31 luxury villas and 49 apartments under the Luxury Beach Residences by Coporgest brand.
These properties will be marketed and operated by Coporgest and will also be available for private ownership. Owners will have access to services and amenities associated with Park Hyatt Comporta while retaining the privacy of their own homes.
Park Hyatt Expansion Continues
The Comporta project forms part of a broader expansion of the Park Hyatt portfolio worldwide.
The brand is scheduled to add several new properties in the coming years, including Park Hyatt Phu Quoc and Park Hyatt Riviera Maya in 2026, followed by Park Hyatt Mexico City, Park Hyatt Vancouver and Park Hyatt Taormina in 2027.
The planned openings will expand Park Hyatt's presence across both established luxury markets and emerging resort destinations.
For Portugal, the planned 2029 opening represents a significant addition to the country's luxury hospitality sector, bringing one of Hyatt's flagship luxury brands to Comporta and creating a new hotel and residential offering along the Atlantic coast.
