Otopeni Airport. Photo: LCV / Shutterstock.comThe new approvals allow TAROM Tehnic to provide maintenance and repair services for Boeing 737-7, 737-8 and 737-9 aircraft, as well as Airbus A319, A320 and A321 aircraft, subject to the engine configurations covered by its certifications.
The expanded certification portfolio means TAROM Tehnic can now support a broader range of aircraft operated by commercial airlines, particularly on European routes where Boeing 737 and Airbus A320 family aircraft are among the most commonly used narrow-body jets.
The additional capabilities will be available at TAROM Tehnic's Otopeni base, both through hangar maintenance and line maintenance services. The type of work performed will depend on the aircraft, maintenance requirements and individual operator needs.
According to Florian Trăilă, General Manager of TAROM Tehnic , the new authorizations create opportunities to work with additional airlines operating the approved aircraft and engine configurations.
The company said the expanded services will allow it to carry out technical work and inspections for third-party operators inside its maintenance hangar, while also providing line maintenance support to airlines operating through Henri Coandă International Airport.
TAROM Tehnic said the expansion strengthens its position in Romania's commercial aircraft maintenance and repair market by making greater use of its infrastructure and technical expertise at Otopeni.
The organization operates the only aircraft maintenance and repair hangar located at Romania's largest air transport hub, giving it a strategically important position within the country's civil aviation infrastructure.
Providing maintenance services directly at Bucharest's main airport could be particularly useful for airlines and operators needing technical support while their aircraft operate through the Romanian capital.
The newly approved aircraft types also represent a substantial part of the European commercial aviation fleet. Boeing 737 and Airbus A319, A320 and A321 aircraft are extensively operated by airlines across Europe and other international markets.
For operators, access to certified maintenance facilities at major airports can help reduce the need to position aircraft elsewhere for certain technical work and support more efficient fleet operations.
