Air Astana has expanded its loyalty program, Nomad Club, allowing children to join the club and earn points on their flights.

According to the company, the child's account must be managed by a parent or guardian, and the accumulated points can be redeemed in accordance with the program rules for various benefits, including bonus cards, upgrades, seat selection and additional services.

The move is aimed primarily at families flying together, and allows you to accumulate value on children's tickets as well, not just on adult flights.

The option to add children to frequent flyer clubs is not unique to Air Astana, but it is not yet uniform across the aviation industry.

Emirates , for example, operates Skywards Skysurfers for children and teenagers, with an account managed by the parent.

At British Airways , you can add children to a Household Account, which allows family members to earn Avios together.

Air France-KLM's Flying Blue also offers a family model , and Qatar Airways operates a Family & Friends mechanism that allows family members to integrate their accounts .

The main differences between the programs concern the age of joining, the method of account management, and the ability to transfer or consolidate earned points.

More Loyalty Clubs Aimed at Families

Air Astana's move reflects a broader shift in airline loyalty programs.

In the past, frequent flyer clubs were built primarily around business and frequent flyers. In recent years, more companies have adapted the clubs to families, understanding that flights by several family members can generate significant accumulation over time.

For passengers, the meaning is simple: even children's flights can become points that can be redeemed later.

The new move at Nomad Club is mainly relevant to travelers using the company's network in Kazakhstan and other destinations in Asia and Central Asia.
