From early Friday morning, southerly winds of storm to strong storm force will prevail in the Alpine regions of Lombardy, Veneto and Trento. At the same time, showers and thunderstorms will occur in the Alpine regions and the adjacent foothills of Piedmont and Lombardy.

The storms may be accompanied by heavy downpours, strong wind gusts, localized hail, and frequent lightning activity.

Weather warnings and risk assessments in Italy are updated daily according to forecasts and system developments, with local authorities responsible for managing preparedness and response on the ground.

Travelers planning to travel to northern Italy are advised to stay updated on the forecast and local warning status, especially in mountainous areas and around Lombardy and Piedmont.

The unusual weather over Switzerland is also causing delays at airports in Germany, in Munich and Frankfurt, delays of about an hour are being recorded in departing flights.
