Low-Cost Airline Marks Historic Milestone with the Busiest Day in Its History

easyJet has set a new record for the busiest day in its history, operating more than 2,000 flights across its network and carrying more than 343,000 passengers.

Activity in the British market also recorded particularly impressive figures: more than 196,000 passengers flew to and from British airports with easyJet, on more than 1,100 flights in one day.

Popular destinations included Palma de Mallorca and Alicante in Spain, as well as Milan in Italy. easyJet holidays' holiday packages state that the most popular destinations were Palma de Mallorca, Tenerife and Rhodes.

The peak comes in the midst of the airline's biggest ever summer season. As part of the summer preparations, easyJet's UK fleet has been expanded with eight more Airbus A320 family aircraft, based at Bristol, Newcastle, Birmingham, Manchester, Liverpool and Glasgow.

In addition, the airline launched 53 new routes this summer, including more distant holiday destinations in Turkey, Egypt, Morocco and more.
