Photo: Emirates Emirates has taken its iconic Premium Economy cabin one step further by introducing what it says is the world’s first electrically powered Premium Economy seat with a full-height adjustable privacy screen.
Photo: EmiratesThe new seats are debuting aboard newly delivered Airbus A350 aircraft, giving passengers more control over their personal space while adding several new comfort and connectivity features.
The Premium Economy cabin on the A350 has a spacious 2-3-2 configuration with just 28 seats. Each seat is 20 inches wide and offers up to 39 inches of pitch. Passengers can also recline into a cradle position designed to provide greater comfort without significantly intruding into the space behind.
The electrically powered privacy divider can be raised or lowered using the seat controls and locked into position. Emirates says the full-height screen is the first of its kind in a Premium Economy cabin and is designed to give passengers greater privacy while working, dining or relaxing.
The seat itself is also fully electrically powered, allowing passengers to adjust their position through an integrated Passenger Control Unit. Dedicated settings include lounge mode and meal mode.
Photo: EmiratesEmirates has added its U-Dream headrest by Safran Seats to the new Premium Economy seat. The leather headrest offers adjustable wings designed to provide additional support for the head and neck.
A manually deployable leather footrest is also available, helping passengers relax during longer flights and reducing leg fatigue.
Photo: EmiratesWireless charging is another new addition to the Premium Economy cabin. Compatible devices can be charged without cables, while every seat also has a USB-C port.
The tray table includes an integrated phone holder, allowing passengers to use their smartphones as a second screen while eating or working.
Passengers will have access to Emirates’ ice inflight entertainment system through a 13.3-inch 4K HDR touchscreen.
The newly delivered A350s also feature enhanced exterior camera views. In addition to forward and downward perspectives, passengers can now view left and right exterior views, providing a broader look at the aircraft’s surroundings during the journey.
The upgraded cabin also retains Emirates’ Premium Economy dining experience, with regionally inspired menus served on Royal Doulton china with linen napkins and Robert Welch cutlery.
Photo: EmiratesThe airline offers a selection of premium beverages and wines, including Chandon Vintage Brut 2021. Emirates says its wine programme is backed by more than $1 billion invested in its wine portfolio since 2006.
Since launching Premium Economy in 2022, Emirates has progressively expanded the cabin across its fleet. The product is now available on markets served by its Airbus A350 aircraft.
Long-haul passengers also receive reusable amenity kits created in partnership with United for Wildlife, featuring designs inspired by endangered species and plant-based skincare products from Aveda.
With the new A350 seat, Emirates is adding another layer of privacy, comfort and technology to a cabin positioned between traditional Economy and Business Class, continuing the airline’s strategy of investing heavily in the passenger experience.
