Naples, Italy. Photo: Shutterstock Wizz Air has announced it is expanding its operations in Naples and plans to station a fourth aircraft at its local base starting in March. As part of the expansion, the company will launch four new routes to Palermo, Nice, Basel and Genoa, adding more than 500,000 seats to its flight schedule.
The expansion is expected to grow the company's network from Naples to 30 routes in 14 countries. The company notes that following the move, Wizz Air will become the second-largest airline operating domestic flights from Naples Airport.
Wizz Air has been operating in Naples since 2004, carrying more than 7.1 million passengers to and from the city. The company said the investment aims to expand its range of destinations and strengthen its operations at the airport.
Palermo, Sicily. Photo: ShutterstockThe new destinations include Palermo in Sicily, Nice in southern France, Basel in Switzerland and Genoa in northern Italy, joining the company's existing route network from Naples.
The expansion is being done in collaboration with the Naples and Salerno Airport Management Company, GESAC, with which Wizz Air has been operating over the years.
