The airport said the restrictions will be in place to facilitate the visit of U.S. President Donald Trump. Rolling road closures are expected between 7:30am and 9:30am, and again from 11:30am to 1:30pm on Saturday, September 12.
Dublin Airport. Photo: ShutterstockDublin Airport said its operations will continue as normal, meaning flights and airport services are not expected to be affected by the road restrictions. However, passengers traveling by road may not be able to reach the airport using their usual route.
Some travelers could therefore have to take alternative routes, which may add to journey times.
The airport is advising passengers to plan ahead and check traffic conditions before setting out. It specifically recommends using traffic apps and monitoring the latest updates from Transport Infrastructure Ireland Traffic and Garda Traffic.
Dublin Airport already advises passengers to allow two hours before short-haul flights and three hours before long-haul departures, with additional time recommended for passengers checking bags or traveling in groups.
The warning is particularly relevant for passengers traveling during the two periods when rolling closures are expected. Those arriving by car, taxi or other road transport should allow additional time and check their route shortly before leaving.
Passengers with flights on Saturday are also advised to check directly with their airlines for flight-specific updates, as Dublin Airport notes that airlines provide flight information and it can change.
