The Laguna Cliffs Marriott Resort & Spa in Dana Point, California, is entering a new chapter and will become The Ocean Cliffs at Dana Point, a JW Marriott Resort, after a comprehensive renovation and multi-million-dollar investment.
The hotel, which towers over Dana Point Harbor, is expected to join Marriott International's luxury brand after the upgrades are complete.
The project aims to make the hotel one of Southern California's most prominent luxury hospitality destinations, combining the building's historic character with meticulous contemporary design.
Key innovations include a new resort pool in the heart of the hotel, expanded event areas, an event lawn spanning several acres, and a new, large event hall.
The hospitality experience itself will also be upgraded. The hotel will feature a new chef-driven restaurant, renovated lounge areas, redesigned reception and hospitality areas, and an upgraded spa. The lobby will open onto a spacious ocean-view deck for entertaining and sunset views.
The hotel’s 371 rooms will be refreshed with a design inspired by Dana Point’s maritime heritage, with an elegant design line that echoes Californian beach houses. Alongside this, the hotel will maintain family-friendly amenities, including a family pool, cabanas, a kids’ club, and a Splash Zone.
According to the chain's announcement, the new design, entrusted to the design firms HKS and ROAM, seeks to combine modern luxury, ocean views, and an effortless Californian vacation atmosphere.
