Czech airline Smartwings has announced a new partnership with a Taiwanese airline

Under the agreement, passengers can book flights operated by both companies on a single ticket. In addition, the service will allow luggage to be transferred directly to the final destination, without collecting it en route and re-depositing it on the connecting flight.

The partnership connects STARLUX's Asian network with Smartwings' European routes, with Prague serving as a central hub between the two regions. The new connection will allow passengers from various destinations in Asia to reach Prague and then continue on to other destinations in Europe.

Last month, STARLUX Airlines' Airbus A350-900 landed for the first time at Prague's Vaclav Havel Airport, inaugurating the direct route between the Czech capital and Taipei and paving the way for the current collaboration.

According to Smartwings, the collaboration is designed to simplify the travel process for passengers and expand connection options between Asia and Europe, using Prague as a gateway to additional destinations on the continent.

Just yesterday, following a publication in PassportNews in December 2025, the giant deal in the European aviation market is moving forward. The Czech Competition Authority approved the acquisition of Czech Airlines and control of Smartwings by the Turkish aviation group Pegasus Airlines, subject to conditions designed to maintain competition on routes between the Czech Republic and Turkey.
