In August 2026, 5.86 million passengers passed through the airport, an increase of 3.5% compared to August 2025. At the same time, 34,995 aircraft movements were recorded, an increase of 0.5% compared to last year.
The peak daily passenger traffic during the summer peak period was recorded on August 1, when more than 210,000 passengers passed through the airport. This figure does not include days when flight operations were affected by changes caused by weather conditions.
One of the main drivers of growth is connecting passenger traffic. In August, this sector recorded a double-digit increase. The growth was mainly driven by traffic between Hong Kong and China and South Korea. At the same time, the decline in passenger traffic with the Middle East region moderated due to the security situation.
From the beginning of January to the end of August, 44.3 million passengers passed through the port, up 10.1% from the same period last year. Aircraft movements amounted to approximately 269,900, up 3.5%. In the last 12 months, the number of passengers reached 65 million, an increase of 11.4%., while the number of aircraft movements reached 403,850.
Cargo activity also remains positive on an annual basis. In August, cargo volume decreased by 1.2%, to 422 thousand tons, mainly due to an 8.8% decrease in exports. Meanwhile, cargo in transit jumped 18.2%, and imports rose 3.6%.
Since the beginning of the year, cargo shipments between Hong Kong and China have grown by 17%, in Southeast Asia by 14% and in Europe by 8%. These increases have offset declines in activity with North America and the Middle East. In total, the port handled about 3.34 million tons of cargo in the first 8 months of 2026, an increase of 2.6% compared to last year.
