According to Madrid airport operator Aena, TAP celebrated the anniversary at Adolfo Suárez Madrid-Barajas Airport on September 19, exactly 80 years after the airline operated the first flight between the two capitals.
The route began on September 19, 1946, connecting Madrid with Lisbon and establishing a link that has remained part of TAP's international network for eight decades.

The route links two of the Iberian Peninsula's main capitals and serves both business and leisure traffic between Spain and Portugal. Madrid-Barajas is TAP's airport in the Spanish capital, while Lisbon is the airline's main hub.

For Madrid, the TAP connection to Lisbon also provides access to the airline's wider network through the Portuguese capital.
