The cancellation comes after the planned industrial action threatened to disrupt Icelandair’s operations and affect passengers traveling through Keflavík and on the airline’s international network.
With the strike no longer going ahead, Icelandair expects its normal schedule to resume.
However, the airline warned that some airport services could be busier than usual this afternoon as passengers return to travel, while some last-minute schedule changes may still occur as operations are restored following the disruption.
Passengers traveling with Icelandair are being advised to prepare for potentially busy airport services and allow additional time for their journey.
The airline recommends checking that all required travel documents are in order before leaving for the airport. Depending on the destination, this can include passports, visas and electronic travel authorizations such as ESTA, eTA or ETA.
Passengers are also encouraged to check in online or through the Icelandair app before arriving at the airport. Those traveling without checked baggage can proceed directly to security after completing online check-in.
Icelandair is also advising passengers to arrive at the airport with plenty of time before their scheduled departure.
The canceled industrial action had been announced by the Icelandic Aircraft Mechanics’ Association as part of a labor dispute involving aircraft maintenance staff.
Icelandair thanked passengers for their understanding and cooperation during the disruption and the return to normal operations.
