Condor adds new destinations from Frankfurt. Photo: Shutterstock German airline Condor continues to rapidly expand its European flight network. Today, Wednesday, September 23, the company announced three new destinations from its home port in Frankfurt: Athens, Florence, and Stockholm.
The move is part of Condor's strategy to strengthen Frankfurt as an international hub and develop a network of short-haul flights that feeds its long-haul operations to North America, the Caribbean, Africa and Asia.
With the three new destinations, the company's City network is expected to include 16 European cities next summer.
The first line to be launched will be between Frankfurt and Athens.
Starting April 28, 2027, Condor will operate a daily flight to the Greek capital throughout the summer season.
The addition of Athens gives the company another major destination in the Mediterranean region and expands connection options via Frankfurt.
On May 6, 2027, Florence will also join the network. Condor plans to operate two daily flights between Frankfurt and the Tuscan capital throughout the summer season.
The high frequency is intended for both tourist and business travelers, and at the same time allows for more convenient connections to the company's connecting flights from Frankfurt.
A week later, on May 13, 2027, the company will launch the route from Frankfurt to Stockholm Arlanda Airport.
Unlike the other two routes, Stockholm will run year-round, with two flights per day.
The opening of the three routes is part of a broader strategic shift that Condor is undergoing. The company, which for years has been associated primarily with leisure flights, is expanding its city network and developing a connectivity system in Frankfurt that allows passengers to transfer between European destinations and its long-haul flights.
According to Dr. Pierre Dominique Prümm, Condor's Chief Commercial Officer, the city-network expansion is a focused investment in further developing the Frankfurt hub and makes it possible to offer a broader European network alongside coordinated connections for long-haul flights.
Condor notes that the schedules of the new routes are designed to allow for short connection times via Frankfurt.
The European expansion takes on added significance after Condor's return to Israel this year. The German company also recently announced a new interline agreement with American Airlines, significantly expanding its options in North America.
Now, with Athens, Florence and Stockholm, the company continues to build Frankfurt as a connection point between its European city network and its long-term international operation.
