Explora Journeys ship. Photo: MSC Cruises MSC Cruises' luxury cruise brand Explora Journeys has signed a letter of intent with Dutch shipyard Den Breejen Shipyard to build the brand's first luxury river ships.
The move marks Explora Journeys' planned entry into the river cruise sector, an area in which the company has not previously engaged.
According to the Explora Journeys announcement, the company intends to bring its luxurious travel experience to European rivers, including meticulous hospitality, unique design, sophisticated cuisine, and more.
The Den Breejen shipyard was chosen for its extensive experience in river vessel manufacturing, its track record in building luxury river ships, and its reputation.
Bookings for the river cruises are expected to open in 2027. Additional details on the ships' design, the hospitality and leisure experiences on board, delivery dates, and the first routes will be provided later.
