Photo: Ian Dewar Photography / Shutterstock Train passengers in New Jersey are expected to face delays overnight (Tuesday, September 29) and into the early hours of Friday morning, due to planned maintenance work by Amtrak on overhead electrical infrastructure.
According to a statement from the North Jersey Coast Line, the work will begin at 10:00 p.m. tonight, between Rahway and Metropark. Because of the work, trains on the Northeast Corridor and the North Jersey Coast Line may experience intermittent delays of up to 20 minutes in both directions.
The work is expected to be completed before Friday morning rush hour. However, passengers are advised to plan ahead and allow extra travel time until the work is completed.
The work follows yesterday's disruption on the North Jersey Coast Line, when fallen trees on the tracks halted service on September 28. According to the company, service has since resumed on or near schedule in both directions.
