France is expanding the assistance program for employees who travel long distances by private car for work purposes.

The aid, known as "Grand Rouleur", will also apply in October, November and December 2026, and it is possible to receive 100 euros.

The assistance is intended for employees and the self-employed who use their private vehicle significantly for their work. For those who have already received the assistance during the year, the payment for the new period will be transferred automatically, subject to the eligibility conditions.

Who Is Eligible for Assistance?

To receive the assistance, several conditions must be met. The applicant must be a tax resident in France, at least 16 years old at the end of 2024, and be employed or self-employed.

In addition, he must meet the program's income conditions. For the months of October to December, the income ceilings are €2,035 net per month for a single person, €4,070 for a couple with one child and €6,100 for a couple with two children.

Anyone taxed on real estate capital or IFI for 2024 is not eligible for assistance.

How Far Do You Need to Travel?

The assistance is intended for those who use a private vehicle for work purposes and meet one of two conditions: a trip of more than 15 km between home and work in each direction, or a trip of more than 8,000 km per year.

The vehicle must be a two-, three-, or four-wheeled land motor vehicle, powered by gasoline or a non-rechargeable hybrid system. In addition, it must be insured and used for professional purposes.

Electric, plug-in or hydrogen-powered vehicles are not included in the program. Trucks, agricultural vehicles, heavy four-wheeled vehicles and company or service vehicles whose expenses are covered by the employer are also not eligible.

Aid Doubled in the Last Quarter

For the period between April and September, the aid was €100, an amount equivalent to 20 euro cents per liter based on average fuel consumption over six months.

In the last quarter of 2026, the aid was increased to 40 euro cents per liter, effectively amounting to 100 euros for the three months from October to December.

Assistance is provided only once per vehicle.

How to Get the Money?

The application is submitted using the online form on the French tax authority website. According to the information provided, after the authorities verify the application, they transfer the payment within about 10 days to the bank account you provided for income tax purposes.

Those who have already received "Grand Rouleur" assistance during the year are not required to submit another application for the new period, and the assistance should be paid automatically, subject to meeting the conditions.
