Alaska Air Group is moving into the next phase of its long-term Alaska Accelerate strategy, with plans to expand its international network, introduce new premium products and grow its loyalty and cargo businesses.

The company outlined the plans at its 2026 Investor Day, saying the strategy is shifting from integration and foundation-building toward what it calls an activation phase. Alaska Air Group said approximately two-thirds of its $1 billion incremental profit plan has already been captured.

More Global Destinations

One of the biggest targets is international growth. Alaska Airlines plans to operate at least 15 long-haul intercontinental destinations by 2030, adding to its existing network across North America, Latin America, Asia, the Pacific and Europe.

The group is also preparing a major investment in the premium travel experience across Alaska Airlines and Hawaiian Airlines. Two new flagship experiences, Aurora and Leihōkū, will be introduced alongside a new Premium Reserve cabin and additional lounges.

The airlines also plan to upgrade the wider passenger experience, with investments extending beyond the aircraft cabin.

Alaska Air Group is simultaneously expanding its Atmos Rewards loyalty program, including new ways for members to earn points, status points and additional benefits. The group also plans new financial products linked to the program.

Another part of the strategy is the expansion of Alaska's cargo operation, as well as continued investment in Hawaiian Airlines' Kahuʻewai Hawaiʻi Investment Plan.

International connectivity is also set to grow through Alaska Airlines' planned participation in American Airlines' Atlantic and Pacific joint businesses. The companies have announced plans for Alaska to join the two businesses, subject to applicable requirements and approvals.

The carrier has already announced new nonstop service from Seattle to Athens and Paris, further expanding its international network.

Alaska Air Group acquired Hawaiian Airlines as part of its broader expansion strategy. CEO Ben Minicucci said the acquisition accelerated a strategy the company had already been developing, while the group now moves toward delivering the results of its investments in premium products, international connectivity, loyalty and cargo.

Alaska Airlines and Hawaiian Airlines currently operate hubs in Seattle, Honolulu, Portland, Anchorage, Los Angeles, San Diego and San Francisco, serving more than 140 destinations.
