Passengers traveling through New York's John F. Kennedy International Airport should expect changes to overnight terminal transfers in October, with AirTrain JFK set for a full service suspension on four nights.

All Station Lines Affected

According to JFK Airport, AirTrain service will be suspended across all station lines from 10 p.m. to 6 a.m. on October 5, 6, 13 and 14. The closures are scheduled as part of maintenance work.

During the disruptions, free shuttle buses will replace the AirTrain, serving the Ground Level of all AirTrain stations and the frontages of the airport's airline terminals.

The affected terminals are Terminal 1, Terminal 4, Terminal 5, Terminal 7 and Terminal 8. Passengers moving between terminals during the overnight periods will need to follow airport signs to the replacement bus services.

Travelers using Jamaica Station to reach the Central Terminal Area will need to transfer to a shuttle bus at Lot 66 for connections to the terminals. Passengers traveling from the Central Terminal Area toward Howard Beach and Lefferts Boulevard will have direct buses departing from the terminal frontage.

Customer Service Agents Will Provide Assistance

JFK Airport says Customer Service Agents will be available at AirTrain stations and shuttle bus stops throughout the disruption to help passengers with information and wayfinding.

The airport is advising travelers to allow additional time, particularly when transferring between terminals. While the terminals remain open, the replacement bus service may make overnight connections less direct than usual.

The first disruption will begin at 10 p.m. on Monday, October 5, and continue until 6 a.m. Tuesday, October 6. A second closure will run from 10 p.m. Tuesday, October 6, until 6 a.m. Wednesday, October 7.

The remaining two overnight disruptions will take place from 10 p.m. Tuesday, October 13, until 6 a.m. Wednesday, October 14, and from 10 p.m. Wednesday, October 14, until 6 a.m. Thursday, October 15.
