Prague Airport is warning drivers not to follow a route currently being recommended by Google Navigation, after the service began directing vehicles through areas that are not intended for ordinary road traffic.

Google Maps is currently directing traffic to the airport via unauthorized routes.

"We Are Addressing the Correction with Google"

In a notice issued Friday, October 2, Prague Airport said Google Navigation was directing some drivers toward the airport through Gate 1 and into a restricted security area. The route then continues along the non-public connecting road K Letišti.

According to the airport, neither route is intended for regular public traffic. The internal section is part of the airport's closed compound, while K Letišti is reserved for public transport, emergency services and vehicles that have permission to enter the airport area.

The airport is asking drivers to ignore the problematic navigation route and instead use the usual surrounding roads, including the D7 motorway and Lipská, to reach the airport.

Prague Airport said it is working with Google to correct the navigation information.

Construction Work Underway

The warning comes as road access around Václav Havel Airport Prague is already affected by construction work.

The airport is currently advising passengers that the reconstruction of the Aviatická intersection can result in traffic restrictions and longer journey times, particularly during peak periods. It recommends allowing additional time or using public transport, which is not affected by the restrictions at the construction site.

The airport's latest warning is specifically aimed at drivers using navigation applications. Prague Airport continues to operate its regular passenger terminals, with Terminal 1 serving non-Schengen flights and Terminal 2 serving flights within the Schengen Area.
