Photo: American Airlines American Airlines has announced the opening of a new lounge at Charlotte Douglas International Airport, which will become the largest Admirals Club in the company's network.
The lounge will cover more than 40,000 square feet, which is approximately 3,716 square meters, and will be built as part of the company's expansion of the premium experience at one of its most important airports.
According to the company, the new lounge will include several seating and work areas, bars, dining areas, relaxation areas and spa-style showers.
American notes that the design is intended to make it more convenient for both passengers arriving for a short time between flights and those waiting longer for a connection.
Work is expected to begin in 2026, and at the same time, the existing lounges at the port will continue to operate.
Charlotte Douglas is American Airlines' second-largest hub, with more than 650 flights per day during peak periods and connections to more than 180 destinations in 27 countries.
This level of activity makes the airport a central hub, especially for connecting passengers, so expanding the lounge facilities has operational and commercial significance for the company.
In recent years, American Airlines has expanded and upgraded its lounge network at several US airports as part of increasing competition for premium and frequent flyer passengers.
The new lounge in Charlotte is expected to be the company's largest to date, and will bring together under one roof accommodation, work, food and beverage spaces on a scale never before seen at the Admirals Club.
At this stage, the company has not yet announced a final opening date.
