Lufthansa will resume its direct Frankfurt-Nagoya service and add a new daily flight between Frankfurt and Tokyo-Narita. SWISS is also increasing its Japan service, with the Lufthansa Group set to offer up to 50 weekly flights to Japan during summer 2027.

Lufthansa’s Frankfurt-Nagoya route will return on a seasonal basis from March 29, 2027, operating three times a week on Mondays, Wednesdays and Saturdays.

Flight LH736 will leave Frankfurt at 2:10 p.m. and arrive in Nagoya at 9:35 a.m. the following day. The return flight, LH737, will depart Nagoya at 11:30 a.m. and arrive in Frankfurt at 6:30 p.m.

Nagoya is a major industrial and economic center in Japan and the capital of Aichi Prefecture, one of the country’s key manufacturing regions. The route also provides travelers from Nagoya with connections through Frankfurt to destinations across Europe and South America.

From March 28, 2027, Lufthansa will also introduce a daily seasonal flight between Frankfurt and Tokyo-Narita. Flight LH710 will depart Frankfurt at 1:45 p.m. and arrive at Narita at 9:30 a.m. the following day. The return LH711 will leave Tokyo at 11:20 a.m. and arrive in Frankfurt at 6:40 p.m.

Lufthansa will continue operating daily services from both Frankfurt and Munich to Tokyo-Haneda. The additional Narita service gives the airline another option for passengers traveling to the Tokyo metropolitan area.

Both the Frankfurt-Nagoya and Frankfurt-Narita routes will be operated with Lufthansa’s Boeing 787-9 in the airline’s Allegris cabin configuration. The aircraft features 28 Business Class seats, 28 Premium Economy seats and 231 Economy Class seats.

SWISS will also increase its Japan service, offering up to seven weekly flights between Zurich and Tokyo-Narita during summer 2027.

Overall, Lufthansa, Austrian Airlines, SWISS and ITA Airways are scheduled to offer up to 50 weekly flights to four Japanese destinations: Tokyo-Haneda, Tokyo-Narita, Osaka and Nagoya.

Additional booking options will also be available through Lufthansa Group joint venture partner ANA, giving passengers more connections to Japan and onward destinations.

Lufthansa Group said the expanded schedule reflects the importance of Japan to its international network and provides additional options for both business and leisure travelers. The new and resumed flights are already available for booking.
