Air India has launched EasyRoam, a new travel SIM service designed to give passengers international mobile connectivity without having to arrange a separate roaming service for each trip.

Physical and eSIM Formats Available

The Air India-branded service is available as both a physical SIM and an eSIM through a dedicated Air India webpage. The SIM is being offered free of charge during the launch phase, while customers pay for the roaming package they choose.

EasyRoam currently offers plans covering 30 countries across North America, Europe, including the UK, Australia, Asia Pacific and the Middle East. Prices start at INR 241 (€2.2), excluding taxes, with the final cost depending on the destination and selected plan.

Customers choosing a data plan can also receive up to 1GB of complimentary data. The offer applies across the destinations covered by EasyRoam, except for the Maldives and Mauritius.

Expansion to 190 Countries

The service is set to expand gradually, with Air India and Tata Communications planning coverage in up to 190 countries. Travelers will be able to choose between destination-specific and worldwide plans, with options for data-only or combined voice and data services.

The service is designed around digital activation, with customers receiving notifications and alerts to help them track usage and roaming costs while abroad.

Air India customers can also keep their existing mobile number for up to one year at a nominal cost, giving travelers the option to stay reachable while using the new service overseas.

New Partnership

Air India is launching EasyRoam through a partnership with Tata Communications. Tata Communications provides connectivity through a network spanning more than 600 mobile network operators worldwide.

Vivek Manglik, President and Head of Mobility and IoT at Tata Communications, said the partnership aims to make international connectivity simpler for travelers by combining roaming services with a digital-first experience.

Nipun Aggarwal, Chief Commercial and Transformation Officer at Air India, said the service is intended to address the connectivity needs of passengers traveling internationally.

EasyRoam is initially available through Air India's website, with access through the airline's mobile app expected to follow.
