The Greek airline Aegean Airlines has announced a change in management.
Michalis Kouveliotis has been appointed CEO of the company, replacing Dimitris Gerogiannis, who has held the position for the past 20 years and was one of the key figures in the company's establishment and development.
Kovalitis, who served as the company's CFO even before its IPO on the Athens Stock Exchange, began serving as Deputy CEO in early 2025, as part of preparations for transferring the reins to the next generation of management. As part of his role, he was responsible for coordinating between the company's business divisions, and he has now officially assumed the role of CEO.
Georgianis will continue to serve as an advisor, and will be responsible for the technical base and training center of the group, along with supporting the process of transferring responsibility to the new management.
Eftichios Vassilakis, Chairman of AEGEAN, noted that Georgianis, along with Theodoros Vassilakis, was a partner in shaping the company's service culture and product quality, as well as its values of fairness and cooperation. According to him, Kovilitis has already proven his capabilities in periods of growth and crisis, and has led the management transition process over the past two years.
The chairman emphasized that the company's main challenge will be to strengthen the cooperation between the second generation of its managers, while maintaining core values, developing the route network and aviation product, and nurturing a new generation of employees and managers.
