Birmingham Airport passengers are being advised to allow extra time for journeys during the announced HS2 motorway closures from October 23 to 26.
Signed diversions will be in place, and journey times may increase. Passengers should check traffic updates and plan their route before setting off.
Key Routes Affected
Drivers in the West Midlands are being warned of a major motorway closure at the end of the week as work on the HS2 high-speed rail project affects several key routes.
National Highways West Midlands has announced that sections of the M42, M6 and M6 Toll will close from 9 p.m. on Friday, October 23, until 5 a.m. on Monday, October 26.
The closures will affect the M42 in both directions, with the northbound carriageway closed between junctions 6 and 9 and the southbound carriageway between junctions 9 and 7.
Several connections involving the M6 and M6 Toll will also be affected. These include the M6 junction 4a link to the M42, the northbound M6 junction 3a link to the M6 Toll, and the southbound M6 Toll from junction T3.
Diversions will be in place throughout the closure, and drivers are being advised to plan their journeys in advance and allow extra time.
