The Lufthansa Group is preparing its biggest flight schedule expansion since the start of the COVID-19 pandemic, adding new long-haul routes, European destinations and extra frequencies across its airlines for summer 2027.

The group's summer timetable will be available for booking from October 20, 2026, with new services planned across North America, South America and Asia, alongside expanded European connections.

The expansion covers Lufthansa, Discover Airlines, Austrian Airlines, SWISS, Brussels Airlines, Edelweiss and ITA Airways. Eurowings will announce its summer schedule separately.

Stefan Kreuzpainter, Lufthansa Group's Senior Vice President Commercial Customer Offer, said the expanded schedule would give passengers more destinations and connections, as well as more options for business and leisure travel.

Lufthansa Adds Columbus, Phoenix and Japan Routes

Lufthansa will launch three weekly flights between Frankfurt and Columbus, Ohio, from May 5, 2027. The service will operate on Wednesdays, Fridays and Sundays using a Boeing 787-9 fitted with the airline's Allegris cabin.

From March 28, Lufthansa will also introduce a daily Frankfurt–Tokyo-Narita service, complementing its existing flights to Tokyo-Haneda from Frankfurt and Munich. Seasonal Frankfurt–Nagoya flights will resume on March 29, operating three times a week.

The airline will increase frequencies on routes including Cape Town, Rio de Janeiro, Hyderabad, Chennai and Montreal. Its Frankfurt–Kuala Lumpur service, launched in October 2026, will continue into the summer schedule with daily flights.

Lufthansa will also restore daily flights from Frankfurt to Dubrovnik, Croatia, as a new European destination in its summer program.

From August 3, 2027, Lufthansa will launch three weekly flights between Munich and Phoenix using an Airbus A350-900. The airline will also add a second, seasonal Munich–Delhi service from March 28 and increase frequencies to destinations including Bengaluru, Chicago, São Paulo and Singapore.

Discover Airlines Expands in Canada

Discover Airlines will add Edmonton to its Canadian network from June 1, 2027. The airline plans to operate three weekly flights from Frankfurt on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays, making Edmonton its third Canadian destination alongside Calgary and Halifax.

The leisure airline also plans to base a third Airbus A330-300 in Munich. With two additional weekly flights to Windhoek, Namibia, its Munich service to the destination will increase to five departures per week.

SWISS Adds Toulouse and Expands Tokyo Flights

SWISS will continue operating its five-weekly Bengaluru service through summer 2027 and increase flights to Tokyo-Narita during parts of the season. Flights will operate daily at the start of summer until the end of May and again in October. Between June and September, the airline plans to increase frequencies from five to six per week compared with summer 2026.

The airline will add Toulouse, France, to its network, with two weekly flights between Zurich and the southern French city from June 25 to August 23. It will also increase frequencies to several European destinations, including Budapest, Hamburg, Paris, Nice, Bremen and Niš.

Austrian Airlines Extends Its Long-Haul Offering

Austrian Airlines will bring Tokyo-Narita and Shanghai back into its schedule at the start of the summer season. Tokyo will be served daily from May through October, while Shanghai will receive five weekly flights. Bangkok will operate daily throughout the summer timetable.

The airline will continue serving Mauritius until April 22 and Malé in the Maldives until April 25, extending both routes beyond the winter schedule. Its transatlantic network will include New York, Washington, Boston, Chicago and Montreal, with Los Angeles returning from late April. The North American routes will operate five to seven times a week using Boeing 777 aircraft.

Austrian will also launch a seasonal Vienna–Beirut route from June to September 2027 and expand its holiday program in Greece, Spain, Italy and France.

ITA Airways Adds Caracas and Verona

ITA Airways will launch three weekly flights between Rome Fiumicino and Caracas from March 30, 2027. The service will operate on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Sundays using Airbus A330-900 aircraft.

The Italian airline will also add a domestic Rome–Verona route from March 28, expanding connections between the capital and northern Italy.

Brussels Airlines Adds Cairo

Brussels Airlines will introduce five weekly flights between Brussels and Cairo in summer 2027. The airline will also increase services to Kilimanjaro in Tanzania to three flights per week, following the route's launch in summer 2026.

On its European network, the carrier will add Evenes in Norway to its summer schedule and increase frequencies to Porto, Heraklion, Zakynthos and Funchal.

Edelweiss Increases Long-Haul Frequencies

Swiss leisure airline Edelweiss will start seasonal flights to Windhoek on March 16, 2027, increasing the service to three weekly flights from July.

The airline will also operate its Kilimanjaro–Zanzibar route four times a week and increase frequencies to Punta Cana, Malé and Tampa Bay, with the latter two destinations receiving up to five weekly flights each.

The expanded schedule gives travelers more options across the group's six hubs, with new nonstop connections and additional flights on existing routes. The group's airlines will roll out their summer 2027 services on different dates, with Eurowings yet to announce its schedule.
