Qatar Airways will launch direct flights between Doha and Western Sydney International Airport on December 15, 2027, adding a seventh Australian gateway to its network.
Big Plans for Daily Flights
The new route will initially operate three times a week with Boeing 777-300ER aircraft, and Qatar Airways plans to gradually increase frequency to daily service. Tickets are scheduled to go on sale from December 19, 2026, according to the airline.
The aircraft will feature 42 Business Class seats, including the airline's Qsuite product, and 312 Economy Class seats. Passengers will also have access to complimentary Starlink Wi-Fi.
Flight Schedule
Flights from Doha will operate on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays under flight number QR906, departing at 1:40 a.m. and arriving in Western Sydney at 11:45 p.m. the same day. The return service, QR907, will operate on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays, departing Western Sydney at 4:10 p.m. and arriving in Doha at 11 p.m.
Links to Over 170 International Destinations
Western Sydney will become Qatar Airways' seventh Australian destination, joining Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane, Perth, Adelaide and Canberra. The airline said the new service will provide connections through Hamad International Airport to more than 170 destinations across its global network.
Qatar Airways Group Chief Executive Officer Hamad Al Khater said the route would strengthen links between Australia and Qatar while creating opportunities for trade, tourism and investment. He also highlighted the airport's 24-hour operating capacity and the potential for a direct cargo connection serving exporters in New South Wales.
Western Sydney International Airport CEO Simon Hickey welcomed the airline's arrival, saying the service would expand travel options for passengers and make use of the airport's round-the-clock operations.
The route will also complement the wider Qatar Airways-Virgin Australia partnership, which aims to support network growth and improve international connections for Australian travelers.
Qatar Airways said bookings will be available through its website and mobile app. Privilege Club members can earn and redeem Avios on eligible services and purchases, while accessing the airline's onboard connectivity offering.
