Belavia Belarusian Airlines has launched its first scheduled flights to Thailand, introducing a weekly service from Minsk to Bangkok and preparing to add twice-weekly flights to Phuket from October 29.

The Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT) welcomed the airline’s inaugural non-stop flight to Bangkok at Suvarnabhumi Airport, marking a shift from Belavia’s earlier charter operations to regular scheduled services.

Flight B2 799 arrived in Bangkok on Sunday, October 25, at 5:05 p.m. local time. Passengers and crew were greeted by a delegation led by Suladda Sarutilavan, TAT’s Executive Director for the Europe Region, alongside airline representatives and airport and tourism partners.

The Minsk–Bangkok route operates every Sunday using an Airbus A330-200 configured with 281 seats, including 18 in business class and 263 in economy. The flight departs Minsk at 3:10 a.m. and arrives in Bangkok at 5:05 p.m. The return service leaves Bangkok at 7:05 p.m. and reaches Minsk at 1:50 a.m. the following day.

From October 29, Belavia will also introduce twice-weekly scheduled flights between Minsk and Phuket using the same aircraft type. According to TAT, the additional service will provide approximately 2,248 inbound seats per month.

The new scheduled routes follow Belavia’s earlier charter flights to U-Tapao Rayong–Pattaya International Airport and Phuket International Airport, which began in January 2026 before being suspended during the off-season.

Thailand Targets Growing Belarusian Travel Market

TAT said the direct connections would give Belarusian travelers easier access to Thailand’s beaches, cultural attractions, wellness offerings and nature-based activities. The routes also support the authority’s strategy to develop long-haul markets and attract visitors who stay longer and explore multiple destinations.

Belarusian passport holders are eligible for Thailand’s Visa on Arrival scheme, which permits stays of up to 15 days. According to TAT, Belarusian visitors stay an average of 15 days in Thailand, compared with an average of eight days for overseas trips more generally.

Winter holidays are particularly popular, with Belarusian travelers often planning trips around 140 days in advance. December and January are peak travel months, alongside May and September to October. Bangkok, Phuket and Pattaya are among their preferred destinations, while interest in beach holidays, wellness, sports and soft adventure activities is growing.

Belarus has emerged as a growing source market for Thai tourism. Thailand welcomed 32,179 visitors from Belarus in 2025, a 56.48% increase compared with 2024. From January 1 to October 24, 2026, arrivals totaled 23,769, up 1.25% year on year. TAT projects full-year arrivals from Belarus at between 30,000 and 35,000.
