easyJet has finally decided to join the long list of airlines that offer access to onboard Wi-Fi. For the first time in its history, the airline will partner with SpaceX's Starlink to provide high-speed internet across its fleet from the first half of 2027.

Early 2028 Completion

The rollout will cover the airline's Airbus A320, A320neo and A321neo aircraft, with installation expected to be completed by early 2028. The service will allow passengers to browse the internet, stream content and play online games using their own devices during flights.

The announcement marks a change for the low-cost carrier, which has not previously offered onboard Wi-Fi. The investment is intended to give passengers more options during their journeys while maintaining easyJet's focus on affordable air travel.

Beyond entertainment, the connectivity is expected to let passengers check flight status through the easyJet app and website while onboard, as well as access destination information such as local weather, transport options and tourist attractions.

The technology could also allow customers to order food and drinks from the inflight menu without leaving their seats.

Kenton Jarvis, easyJet's chief executive, said the partnership responds to growing demand for connectivity among both leisure and business travelers. He said access to the internet in the air would provide greater choice and convenience.

Gwynne Shotwell, president and chief operating officer of SpaceX, said Starlink would provide connectivity from takeoff to landing, enabling passengers to work, stream content or stay in touch throughout their journeys.

The rollout is scheduled to begin in the first half of 2027, with the full fleet installation expected to be completed by early 2028. easyJet has not yet announced whether Wi-Fi will be free for all passengers or whether different service packages and pricing will apply.
