American Airlines, Citi and Mastercard are introducing new travel perks, spending rewards and purchase protections for two AAdvantage credit cards, with the updated benefits scheduled to take effect on January 24, 2027.
What to Expect
The changes apply to the Citi / AAdvantage Platinum Select Mastercard and the Citi / AAdvantage Business Mastercard. Both cards will carry an annual fee of $150 once the changes take effect, according to the announcement.
The updated benefits are intended to give occasional travelers and small-business owners more opportunities to earn AAdvantage miles, while adding credits for travel-related expenses and other purchases.
For Platinum Select cardholders, one of the changes is an increase in the American Airlines flight discount from $125 to $150. Cardholders must spend at least $20,000 during their cardmembership year and renew the card to qualify.
The card will also offer up to $120 in statement credits for Global Entry or TSA PreCheck application fees every four years, as well as up to $100 in annual statement credits for inflight purchases.

Other benefits include a complimentary annual Walmart+ membership for the primary cardholder and a 50% discount on an annual FOX One subscription. The card also retains perks such as a free first checked bag on eligible domestic American Airlines itineraries, preferred boarding and no foreign transaction fees.
Business Card Adds Flexible Rewards for Company Spending
The Citi / AAdvantage Business Mastercard is also receiving new benefits, including three miles per dollar on eligible AAdvantage Hotels and AAdvantage Cars bookings. Business cardholders will be able to earn two miles per dollar in a self-selected category: US shipping providers, office supply stores or US advertising services.
Like the Platinum Select card, the business card will provide up to $120 in Global Entry or TSA PreCheck application fee credits every four years and up to $100 annually in statement credits for inflight purchases. Cardholders will also receive a 25% discount on a Melio subscription plan for business payments.
Existing benefits will remain, including rewards on American Airlines purchases, car rentals, gas stations and telecommunications services. The card also offers a $99 companion certificate for a qualifying domestic round-trip Main Cabin flight after at least $30,000 in purchases during the cardmembership year and renewal of the card.
Both cards include travel protections, with coverage for trip delays, cancellations or interruptions, and baggage issues, subject to the applicable terms and conditions.
The announcement is the latest change to American Airlines' co-branded credit card portfolio. The airline and Citi introduced the AAdvantage Globe Mastercard in 2025 and announced enhancements to the premium Executive World Legend Mastercard in 2026.
The new and enhanced benefits will be available to existing Platinum Select and Business cardholders beginning January 24, 2027.
