Thompson Hotels has opened its first property in Italy, with the launch of Thompson Rome bringing 69 rooms and suites, three dining venues and a rooftop overlooking the Italian capital.
The hotel, announced by Hyatt Hotels Corporation on October 27, is located on Via delle Botteghe Oscure, a short walk from Piazza Venezia, the Roman Forum, the Pantheon and the Colosseum. The property is owned and operated by AG Group and Rossfin Group.
The hotel occupies a reimagined 1940s landmark, combining restored architectural features with contemporary interiors and a collection of Italian art. Among the preserved elements is a sweeping marble staircase, alongside a sculptural wall and an inlaid floor by Italian artist Gio Pomodoro. The artwork was rediscovered during renovation after remaining hidden for decades.

The collection also includes contemporary artists Francesco Del Drago, Giangaetano Patanè and Guido Strazza.
The hotel plans to build on its cultural focus through a rotating artist-in-residence program featuring exhibitions, conversations and other events connected to Rome's creative community.

The property's food and beverage offering includes LYVE Restaurant, LYVE Rooftop and the Lobby Lounge.
At LYVE Restaurant, executive chef Fabio Fioravanti leads a menu centered on contemporary Mediterranean cuisine, with seafood playing a prominent role. The dishes draw on Italian coastal traditions and regional influences, including Mediterranean fish, shellfish, broths and coastal herbs.
Fioravanti brings more than 20 years of international experience, including work with the Alain Ducasse group and the three-Michelin-starred Le Louis XV at the Hôtel de Paris Monte-Carlo.
Above the hotel, LYVE Rooftop serves cocktails, Italian aperitivi and sharing dishes, with views across Rome. The Lobby Lounge offers coffee, light meals and drinks throughout the day.
The hotel will also offer year-round activities connected to the city's culinary and artistic scenes, including cooking workshops, guided tastings and Empire of Light, a photography-focused experience from the seventh floor.
Thompson Rome's opening expands Hyatt's presence in the Italian capital while introducing the Thompson Hotels brand to the country. The brand is part of Hyatt's lifestyle portfolio.
