Air Canada is expanding its operations to Monterrey, Mexico. The company announced that in the spring of 2027 it will connect the city to all three of its major hubs in Canada - Toronto, Montreal and Vancouver - through a new route and the expansion of existing service.

According to an official announcement from OMA, the operator of the Monterey airport, the new seasonal route from Montreal will begin operating on May 1, 2027, with a frequency of three weekly flights. It will be joined by two weekly flights from Vancouver during the summer season and four weekly flights from Toronto throughout the year. In total, the company will offer nine weekly flights in each direction on the three routes in the summer of 2027.

Not Launched Yet, But Already Expanded to Annual Service

The route between Vancouver and Monterey will launch on December 3, 2026. The service was originally planned to operate during the winter season only, until April 24, 2027, but Air Canada has now announced that it will continue throughout the year.

In the OMA announcement about the launch of the line, it was stated that in the winter, three weekly flights will be operated on Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Saturdays, on Airbus A220-300 aircraft with 137 seats in two classes of service. In the summer, the frequency will be two flights per week.

OMA notes that the routes to Montreal and Toronto will allow for connecting flights to the company's network in North America and Europe, while Vancouver will offer connections to the Asia-Pacific region. According to an Air Canada announcement, the flights are already available in the systems.

The announcement joins other expansions the company has announced for next summer. Air Canada has announced seven new routes and five additional international destinations for summer 2027. The expansion to Monterey now adds another layer to the company's operating plan.
