Milestone in international aviation: For the first time, Qatar Airways has begun operating flights to Venezuela, with the inauguration of a new route connecting the Middle East with the capitals of Colombia and Venezuela. The first flight departed from Doha yesterday, November 4.

The move expands air connectivity between the Middle East and South America, a region that has previously enjoyed relatively limited connectivity to Gulf hubs. The new service will operate twice a week, on Wednesdays and Sundays, using Boeing 777-200LR aircraft.

The route from Doha to Bogota includes a stop in the Colombian capital, from where the flight continues to Caracas. In the opposite direction, the flight departs from Caracas to Doha without an intermediate stop.

The flight from Doha to Bogota lasts about 16 hours and 50 minutes, and the Bogota-to-Caracas segment takes about two additional hours.

The new route expands air connections between the Middle East and the Americas and gives passengers onward options to a variety of destinations through the Doha aviation hub.

With the launch of the service, two cities have been added to the airline’s network of destinations in the Americas, which now numbers 17. Qatar Airways operates more than 170 destinations worldwide this winter season.
