Part of the ceiling at Prague Airport's Terminal 1 collapsed following construction work related to the expansion of passport control facilities and air conditioning systems, the airport confirmed.
The incident occurred on the evening of November 4. Prague Airport said it immediately took action in cooperation with the construction contractor to reduce the risk of further safety incidents.
An internal investigation has also been launched to establish the circumstances surrounding the collapse and determine what additional measures may be required.
Despite the incident, the airport stressed that passenger processing and movement through the terminal have not been affected.
"We take this incident with the utmost seriousness," Prague Airport said in a statement, adding that passenger and employee safety remains its absolute priority.
The airport said it would provide further information about the investigation and subsequent measures.
Earlier today, Czech police said that at least four airplanes had received bomb threats and were due to land at Prague Airport.
Later on, authorities announced that the security measures ended "with pyrotechnic inspections yielding negative results."
