First class with sliding doors, business class meal for two, 4K screens, Starlink, 100+ new dishes, and a million-dollar lounge upgrade: Singapore Airlines unveils next-gen flying experience
Singapore Airlines is unveiling an ambitious plan to upgrade its in-flight experience, with an investment of more than S$2 billion (approximately US$1.5 billion) in developing new cabins and seats in all service classes - First, Business, Premium and Economy.
One of the most notable innovations is in first class, where private suites with curved sliding doors will be located, providing increased privacy and space. The center seats will be able to convert into a double sofa or double bed, along with the option of shared dining.

Business class is also undergoing a significant change, with improved ergonomic seats, increased privacy, personal space and the option of double beds for passengers who wish to sleep together.
In the premium and economy classes, the company promises more space, comfort and usability, along with improved entertainment options. First- and business-class seats will also incorporate smart systems that remember passengers' seat settings and personal environment from flight to flight.
The KrisWorld entertainment system will also receive a new generation, with 4K touchscreens, OLED screens on some aircraft, surround sound, Bluetooth headphone connectivity and a redesigned user interface. The content library will include more than 2,500 entertainment options. In addition, Starlink-equipped aircraft will offer high-speed internet that will allow you to browse, work and stream content during the flight.
The dining experience is also being upgraded: more than 100 new and revamped starters, main courses and desserts will be offered in all classes, alongside an expanded selection of wines and beverages. In the luxury classes, specially designed tableware by the French brand Christophe will be served. The amenity kits will also be renewed, with brands such as SISLEY, BYREDO and INK & WATER, and in the business classes, a sleep suit will also be offered for the first time.
The upgrade won't stop with the aircraft. The airline will invest more than S$130 million to renovate and expand SilverKris lounges worldwide, including at its home airport, Changi.
First class and suite passengers in Singapore will also enjoy concierge services, transfer assistance, priority security screening and electric vehicle shuttles between selected points in the airport.
When Will This Happen?
The new products will enter service gradually from the second half of 2027, on upgraded Airbus A350-900s and the new Boeing 777-9s.
The fleet of 41 long-range and ultra-long-range A350-900s will be upgraded, with First Class also being offered for the first time on the A350-900ULR. The new 777-9s will enter service with all four new classes.
The innovations are based on research conducted among more than 5,000 passengers, crew members and experts, and mark a significant investment by the company in the fight for the passenger experience, even in an era when competition between airlines is increasingly focused on what happens inside and outside the plane.
