Two United Airlines planes collided at Chicago Airport.
A rare incident occurred on Friday afternoon (U.S. time) at Chicago O'Hare International Airport, when two passenger planes from United Airlines collided on the runway during the taxiing of one of them toward the gate.
According to the company's announcement, flight UA2652 was on its way to the passenger gate after landing when it touched the rear part of another United plane, which was stationary at the time with no passengers on board.
The operational flight had five crew members and 113 passengers, all of whom were deboarded without any reported injuries.
The planes involved in the incident were a Boeing 737 and a Boeing 767.
The airline stated in an official response to PassportNews: “On Friday afternoon, flight UA2652 was on its way to its arrival gate when it struck another United plane. Passengers deboarded normally, and no injuries were reported. The second plane was parked, with no passengers on board.”
At the start of the month, we reported on a similar incident at LaGuardia Airport when two Delta Airlines planes collided during taxi flights. In July, a Southwest Airlines plane almost collided mid-air with another passenger aircraft.
