According to ACI EUROPE's new monthly report, Cyprus airports recorded the highest passenger growth among EU+ markets in August, growing at more than twice the European average (+4.9%).
This marks the fourth consecutive month Cyprus has outpaced Europe, establishing itself as a key connectivity hub in the Eastern Mediterranean.
During the summer months, Larnaca and Paphos led the trend with stable demand from diverse source markets, a dense flight schedule, and increased capacity from both regional and international airlines. The combination of expanded seat availability, more balanced seasonality, and competitive pricing has made Cyprus a natural choice for short vacations and business trips, even beyond peak summer times.
Officials in Cyprus note that the island's performance demonstrates consistency, not just a “one-time jump”, with four consecutive months above the European average proving strategic annual planning, investments in connectivity and frequencies, and the ability to attract new markets while maintaining traditional ones.
For regional travelers, this translates to additional seats, more take-off and landing windows, and competition that reduces prices at select times.
Looking ahead, based on the data, we can expect new routes and frequencies in the winter, and deepening connectivity to Central and Northern Europe. If the trend continues, Cyprus' airports will enter the winter season from a strong starting position, continuing to shape the island as an effective gateway between the Middle East and Europe.
