American Airlines is enhancing its premium flight experience.

The world's largest airline, which recently partnered with Porter Airlines to expand travel in North America, has announced it will introduce the Airbus A321XLR to its fleet. Customers can now purchase tickets for the inaugural flight (Flight 3) scheduled for December 18, from JFK to LAX.

"Designed for long journeys with comfort and style at the forefront, American is thrilled to be the first U.S. airline to operate the A321XLR," said Heather Garboden, Vice President of Customer Experience at American. "Whether customers are traveling coast-to-coast or across the ocean, our new aircraft reflects our commitment to a premium experience."

The US Airline that celebrated adding its 1,000th aircraft to its fleet at the start of September received the first aircraft on October 22 with a three-class configuration directly from Airbus' production line in Hamburg:

- 20 Flagship Suite® seats with a privacy door and a flatbed, personal storage spaces, wireless charging, a cocktail table, and personal reading lights.

- 12 Premium Economy seats with winged headrests, footrests, wireless charging, and upgraded dining (hot meals).

- 123 Main Cabin seats with multiple power outlets and personal entertainment screens.

Flagship Suite® passengers will enjoy expedited ground services, including check-in, security, boarding, and baggage handling, as well as access to the Greenwich Lounge™ at JFK with an enhanced menu and unique cocktails. In the air, they will receive multi-course meals paired with award-winning wines, comfort kits with high-quality toiletries, and upgraded bedding (duvet and dual-sided "cool/regular" pillow).

Premium Economy travelers will receive a branded comfort kit, Ostrichpillow® lumbar pillow, and a woven blanket.

Initially, the A321XLR will operate on transcontinental routes in the US, and the company notes that as more aircraft arrive, the model will expand to additional routes, including international flights in the first half of 2026.
