Culinary Journey in the Air: Lufthansa Launches Personalized Food Ordering System

Lufthansa, SWISS, and Austrian Airlines passengers can now choose dishes, drinks, and culinary preferences in advance via a single app

Lufthansa Group introduces “Culinary Journey”. The new digital platform allows passengers to pre-select their meals and drinks before their flight.

The service brings together all culinary options on Lufthansa, SWISSand Austrian Airlines flights in one place, automatically adapting itself to each passenger's class of service and flight route.

Using the website, app, or a dedicated link sent before takeoff, passengers can browse the digital menu, place an advance order, and even provide feedback on meals. The system includes all options for all parts of the journey, even when connecting flights are with different companies in the group.

For example, a passenger flying with Austrian Airlines from Vienna to Frankfurt, and from there with Lufthansa to New York, will be able to pre-select meals and drinks for both flights through one simple interface.

The new system offers a wide variety of dishes in all flight classes. On long-haul flights, you can choose from up to nine main dishes, including unique dishes created especially for users of the new service. On shorter flights, a variety of products are offered for purchase, from sandwiches and salads to desserts, with a 10% discount when ordering in advance.

Additionally, the ability to pre-order helps better plan in-flight catering and reduces food waste. Passengers can also share feedback and preferences to help improve service in the future.
